Meet the Owner

About Jill

Hey there! I’m Jill Wallace, the lucky owner of Mimosa Farm and the person who calls dibs on the comfiest chair on the porch.

Back in May 2020—right in the middle of a pandemic, because why not?—I bought this beautiful farm from the Hughes Family. They built this house and raised 12 kids here (yes, twelve!), and when the parents passed, the kids wanted to make sure the house didn’t end up in the hands of some soulless developer. Lucky for me, I came along looking for a home big enough for my three kids—Matthew, Madison, and Mya—and whatever future chaos their families might bring! My dream was simple: a place where we could all gather, eat way too much, laugh too loud, and squeeze into one house for holidays and special occasions.
At the time, I was climbing the corporate ladder as a Vice President at a home health agency—power suits and all, but my secret dream was to retire early and spend my days in flip-flops (spoiler: I made it!). So, Mimosa Farm got a serious makeover—a $250,000 facelift that updated every room while still keeping just enough of the original charm to remind us this place has stories to tell. The lower level became a super-popular short-term rental (five years of Superhost status, thank you very much), which helped me say goodbye to the 9-to-5 grind by age 49. Now, I get to do what I love: share this farm with you and make dreams come true one guest at a time.

So… Why Mimosa Farm?
Well, right out front stood what might have been the biggest mimosa tree on the East Coast—seriously impressive. Unfortunately, in summer 2024, it got taken out by these pesky spotted lanternflies (nature’s version of bad party crashers). We’ll be pruning it back this winter, and soon it’ll be gone. But don’t worry, the farm is surrounded by a whole bunch of baby mimosa trees trying to grow up big and strong in its honor. Also, I’m a huge fan of champagne mimosas—so maybe the farm’s name also involves a little bubbly inspiration. 🍾

Meet the farm family!
Two of my three kids are married now (somehow!), and I’ve been blessed with two adorable granddaughters and six crazy grand dogs. Our farm is also home to three mini cows, two goats, a mini donkey, and, of course, our lovable mascot and best good boy ever, Maxwell Dominic, the American Bully XL.
Oh, and here’s the fun part—our animals are all named after FRIENDS characters:
- Goats? Monica and Phoebe. They keep things... interesting.
- Mini cows? Rachel, Chandler, Grace, and Ursula (don’t ask about Ursula; she’s the wild card).
- Donkey? Joey. He’s the one who always steals the spotlight.

Mimosa Farm isn’t just a place; it’s a whole vibe—full of love, laughter, and a little bit of chaos. I’m so excited to welcome you here and watch you make your own amazing memories.

Cheers,
Just Jill
